I like this 2010 tropical ceramic tile monochrome design. In a nut shell I've taken the colors of the clients field tiles, listel border, and vanity top (Cambria Stone), and created a tile tropical reef in monochrome browns. About a year ago I decided to eliminate my free-standing range. I rarely used it because I purchased a portable NuWave oven. I try to eat healthy and this little oven met my needs.

I removed my range and added an island to sit and eat my meals. By doing this, I doubled my kitchen countertop space and added a buffet to display my collection of Amberina glass.

Then, NuWave created portable induction burners; so I purchase those to boil water, etc. These portable units not only save me money, but keep this 50+ ole' body looking great...as well as my kitchen.

This tropical fish tile tile back splash is in the artist's newly renovated kitchen. It only took 3 years to complete...the customer comes first. The picture above and below shows a giant green sea turtle tile. It is approximately 18" from its nose to it's rear fin.

I didn't want the typical bright blue tones in my kitchen because I was going for a more elegant and vintage retro kitchen. Plus it's the first thing you see when you entire my apartment and I wanted a tranquil setting to arrive at, after a long day of work in my studio, out back of the house.

You can see in the picture below that I used a classic cream marble to base this tropical ceramic tile coral reef design. The predominant tones are peach, white, pink, and tan. So I created custom tropical fish tiles, mermaid tiles, etc. to compliment the marble by making peach tiles, pink tiles, brown tiles, white tiles and tan ceramic tiles to go with the marble countertops. I have black appliances, so there's just a hint of black in the fishes eyes.

I used a peach-toned grout to match the paint color in my room for a continuous flow from wall to tile. I highly recommend installing under cabinet lighting. It contributes to the beauty of the tropical tile backsplash, plus if you're a cook, it greatly enhances the work surface.

And what's a tropical tile backsplash without a few mermaid ceramic tiles. This tile mermaid has exposed breasts, but the other two mermaid's breasts are discretely hidden.
