rustic sliced pebble and porcelain mosaic tile fish stream
This is an EXCELLENT example of time well spent
on selecting materials and creative design planning. Our clients, Marsha and
Janet of Littleton, Colorado, are showing creativity at it's finest. They are
using several different materials to create a rock / pebble / stone shower,
mountain stream design and installation.
What a fabulous oasis / organic tile design for
a shower after a long day at work. You'd never want to come out back into the

I currently have 4 versions of Brown Trout fish ceramic tiles. These are
SHAPED tiles; NOT square.
Each fish has a slightly different bend to the tails; some are more curved that
others. This lends to a more realistic looking rock stream floor.
Sizes available are 6", 8", 10", & 12" (approximately).
Please note that the two fish shown on the right have a darker green back than
what is currently stocked (11/16/16). The dark green has been discontinued by
the manufacturer and I had to mix a custom color.
Below are Cappuccino Mint, green-backed trout shaped ceramic tiles for your
rock, pebble, and tile floors.
When ordering the white-based Cappuccino Mint trout, please note that there is a
slight variation in green tones. They still look wonderful mixed together. Just
like in nature; no two fish are identical.

blue green sliced pebble tiles are perfect. You can use these stone tiles
in your showers to create an entire pond, or create a

Either way, my wild trout shaped mosaic tiles are a perfect color
combination that add peace and tranquility to your sliced pebble shower floors,

Now let's take a look at
Cappuccino Mint on a tan clay base. As you can see, the glaze color isn't
as rich-looking, rather more tan than gold-tone. It's deeper, darker color; not
vibrant. This color also works with sea green sliced pebbles.

These are my
Cutthroat trout fish tiles. A golden tan, speckled clay base, was used
in the creation of these mosaic tile fish. Agate Green is the body color,
with a tiny bit of a pink added to the edges of the body.
The hand-carved fins allow a
Transparent Pearl glaze to settle into the grooves, creating a white effect,
adding more visual depth to overall design. Just beautiful!

cutthroat trout fish tiles against micro pebble tiles
Your grout color is what will make the fish either "pop," or be subtle in the
stones. If you use a light-colored grout against a darker fish body, the fish
show up more, and create a very "clean" look and feel to your floors.
This is an example of my cutthroat trout, mosaic fish tiles in a dark ocean
pebble shower floor. I personally love the subtle, earth, warm look having
"like colors." Once again, it's the grout color that makes the difference. This
charcoal gray grout works nice with the lighter fin color of the cutthroat trout
fish tile and creates a more rustic look and feel.

Fireflies trout shaped mosaic tiles
Another popular new color for 2018 is Fireflies. I use this glaze color on three
different clay-bases for subtle color changes within fish schools.
Fireflies on a white and a tan clay-base. You can purchase these mixed
white/tan, or all white, or all tan in 6", 8", 10", & 12" left- and
right-facing. Cone 5 firing blends the yellow crystals and the navy blue blue
flecks, creating a teal-tone. Just beautiful, and just enough color to get a bit
of a water effect.
Fireflies is a tan, gray, black, and gold fish
tile color that looks wonderful with
the following sliced pebble tiles for your shower floors.
Note: these were fired hotter, causing the blue and yellow crystals to blend
together more than the pictures shown below.
When you use "like" color stones,
the fish will be subtle in their appearance.
Charcoal gray, sliced pebble tile with Fireflies trout fish tiles for shower and
bathroom floors shows a more subtle range of grays; de-emphasizing the fish
tiles a bit.
All fish show up quite well after the grout is installed. If you want the fish
to "pop," you would use a charcoal gray grout to blend the stones together. If
you want the stones to be the center of attention, you would want to use a dark
charcoal or a much lighter grout color.
When you use a lighter color tan sliced pebble, the trout fish tiles will pop
out a bit. The picture below shows tan sliced pebbles. I really like mixing tan
with gray tones. They have a more modern or clean look and feel.
Fireflies, trout fish ceramic tiles, over tan sliced pebble tiles ,still
provides a more neutral tone shower floor installation, and makes the gray tails
stand out a bit more than a light gray sliced pebble.
A gray or charcoal sliced pebble tile emphasis' the fish color, but de-emphasis'
the tail and fin tones.
Fireflies trout on gray sliced pebble stones makes the trout fish tiles blend in
a bit more than a tan stone.
These are all the things you want
to consider when picking your slice pebble tiles and fish shaped mosaic tiles
for your shower floors.
Gold sliced pebbles also look
wonderful with the Fireflies trout fish ceramic tiles. They have little gold
flecks of color.
gold sliced pebble tiles is very striking, making the trout fish tiles stand out
more on your shower and bathroom ceramic tile or stone tile floors.

trout fish tiles
I personally like to mix my
colors together. This is our Tiles with Style sliced dark ocean pebble tile
shower bench seat and floor installation. Not all fish look identical in a
stream and color depth varies by the depth of the fish in the water.
One design idea I prefer, is to
cut my fish in 2-pieces; make them overlap. This creates a natural looking
stream as one fish swims beneath another fish.
If you look closely, you'll
also see that I used my BROWN and BLACK
backed rainbow trout tiles in conjunction with my GREEN
AGATE with Rare Earth fin trout fish ceramic tiles. The rainbow trout use
the same color as their base color, so all look fabulous together; in a
magnanimous way; of course!

your trout rock stream designs, and create a more inviting, energetic feel to
your shower floors.

WOW! This is one of the nicest
uses of stone in a multitude of forms in a rock shower. Our client Renee
used sliced pebbles, larger river rocks, travertine, and slab stone to
create one of the most beautiful stone showers I've ever seen. Renee
purchased some lily pad leaf tiles and numerous trout shaped mosaic
fish tiles to integrate into her stone shower design.
This shower is like walking
outside into your own personal waterfall, secret garden. The larger river rocks

rainbow trout with black backs
My favorite Rainbow Trout shaped ceramic tiles are what I call
"limited edition." They look nice with nearly any sliced pebble stone and
have a splash of pink/red on the sides.
It's NOT necessary to order round water tiles from me, or use a
porcelain mosaic tile to simulate water. This is a WONDERFUL example of
using two different color stones to simulate water and shoreline of a trout
stream. It saves you money to put elsewhere in your shower.
Another cost savings ideas is to use the same rock throughout; assuming you
get a good deal on it. Then you can purchase some green or blue cement pigment
to add to your grout to create a water look.
Thank you P. Carter for the
wonderful rainbow trout fish tile bathroom/shower floor installation.
Ms. Carter's installation also shows the use of a
handicap shower drain. It creates a seamless, level floor from the shower to the
bathroom. This makes it simple to roll a shower wheelchair into.
I suggest that prior to ordering that you print out a
fish tile off this page, and enlarge or reduce it, to the sizes that you think
you might need. Place them on the floor, flipping them left and right, until you
like the pattern.
