scenario 1 — the 100% custom fireplace surround design

Here we are with a 100% custom, mid-sized handmade tile fireplace surround. These really aren't that expensive, because the opening of the fireplace greatly cuts the cost of tiling. Probably about $500 by eliminating the area where tile would go. For example the insert is probably about 7 square feet. The entire tiled are is about 7 SF.

scenario 2 — falling leaves

This is actually one of my favorite ceramic tile cost-cutting ideas. I call it falling leaves. It also works great as a ceramic tile foyer design idea / entry tile floor. Where the door opens, the leaves are dense. The farther away you get from the door, the lesser the occurrence of the leaves. It's a very natural and peaceful tile design.
